The Five D's In Missions

Conceptually the ministry of Jesus implemented the 5 D’s. As we, in Missions, follow Him it is a naturally supernatural format for our ministry outreach. Jesus’ mandate in     Matthew 28: 19,20 requires the obedient to:

  • DECLARE…THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
A requirement for each Mission Team is to begin the day with Bible Study and Prayer. We make a solid Declaration that Jesus Christ is first in our lives, then we share that Good News with others. It is not unusual to have a Team Member saved

  • DISCOVER…THE TRUTHS OF SCRIPTURE AND THEIR APPLICATION FOR EVERYDAY LIVING
It seems easier to Discover truths on the mission field because we are separated from the ‘usual’. We Discover that the Scripture is True as Holy Spirit manifests Himself in healing, deliverance, utterances…and that the Gifts of the Spirit are for us..today!

  • DEVELOP….MATURE DISCIPLES IN PURSUIT OF CHRIST-LIKENESS
This year the Missions Board implemented a new policy on Fasting. Every Team Member is required to fast for the number of days of their mission trip..including travel time. We teach on fasting and have a handout telling of different kinds of a fast. The basic teaching is that the Hebrew word for fast means ‘to cover one’s mouth’. We develop confidence in Team Members as they experience praying for others at the altar and on the streets. They develop a new sense of Joy and excitement in seeing God’s ability flowing thru them

  • DEPLOY….DISCIPLES INTO ACTIVE MINISTRY, IN THE HOME, THE CHURCH, THE COMMUNITY, AND THE WORLD
Sunset Avenue continues to be supportive and responsive to the mission outreach. We have Deployed people into Randolph County, West Virginia, Florida, India, Brazil, Russia, China, Costa Rica and the uttermost parts of the world this year…and this is only the beginning!!

  • DELIGHT….IN THE LORD, KNOWING THAT OUR DEEPEST PLEASURE IS FOUND IN A LIFESTYLE OF WORSHIP
As the disciples came back to Jesus saying, ‘even the devils’..so we come back saying the same thing. Excitement that is contagious certainly causes our Father to smile. It also brings a sense of Delight to us as we know that He blesses our obedience. We pray that everyone will catch the contagious spirit of a Disciple and expose the whole world!!!
